Many years ago I had the remarkable experience of working with a Jungian psychologist whose work around dream interpretation inspired And Then I Woke Up. Rooted in the idea of a collective unconscious, even the most vivid of dreams, remembered long past waking, have confusing and nonsensical elements, with much of their significance submerged in the murky depths of our sleeping selves. Using bits and pieces of remembered dreams presented as a fragmented and partially obscured narrative, the books in this series function as momentos of a state of being rather than presenting specific narratives.
